SUMMARY:International Day of People with Disability
DESCRIPTION:International Day of People with Disability (IDPwD) is held on 3 December each year. \n\n\n\nIDPwD is a United Nations (UN) day observed internationally. It aims to promote community awareness\, understanding and acceptance of people with disability. \n\n\n\nEach year the UN announces a theme for IDPwD. The theme provides a focus for how society can strive for inclusivity through removing barriers for people with disability. This has been occurring since 1992 when the General Assembly announced 3 December as the International Day of Disabled Persons. \n\n\n\nThe theme for IDPwD 2022 was ‘Transformative solutions for inclusive development: the role of innovation in fuelling an accessible and equitable world’. \n\n\n\nThe official United Nations theme for 2023 will be announced later this year. \n\n\n\nIn Australia\, IDPwD is a joint effort between government\, schools\, organisations\, community groups\, businesses and individuals. \n\n\n\nIDPwD is an opportunity to be part of creating an inclusive and diverse community for the 4.4 million Australians with disability. \n\n\n\nThe Australian Government through the Department of Social Services funds a national program to help promote and raise awareness of this day.

SUMMARY:Sip and nibbles (Awards Night) online Stroke support group
DESCRIPTION:Welcome to the Working Age Sip and Nibbles Stroke support group! Our monthly meetings are held on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month via Zoom meetings. This group is specifically designed for Stroke survivors of working age (under 67 years) to connect with others in a relaxed and fun environment. \n\n\n\nAs our end of year celebration\, we hand out awards for special mentions and our coveted Golden Nibbly. \n\n\n\nAt our Sip and Nibbles sessions\, members are encouraged to sip on their favourite beverage and nibble on their favourite snacks while they engage in conversation with other group members. This is a wonderful opportunity to make new friends\, share experiences\, and offer support to one another. \n\n\n\nWe understand that drinking alcohol may be a part of socialising for some members\, but we also want to remind our members that it is important to only drink after clearance from your doctor\, to drink in moderation\, and that drinking may also exacerbate the effects of your Stroke. We want to ensure the safety and well-being of all our members\, and we encourage responsible drinking. \n\n\n\nOur support group is open to all Stroke survivors of working age (18 – 67 years) from NSW who are looking to connect with others and share their experiences in a supportive and understanding environment. \n\n\n\nFor more information\, contact the Association on 1300 650 594 or online@strokensw.org.au. \n\n\n\n\nREGISTER NOW!
