The Wollongong/ North Illawarra Stroke Recovery Club is a very social support group who meet at the Woonona Bulli RSL Club on the 1st Thursday of each month from 10.30am – 12.00pm. They have an outing each month, where they visit a local museum or go for a drive about the coastal area. These outings generally have a lovely morning tea, followed by a lunch afterwards (please note that the lunch is at own expense) at a local Club or on some incredibly special days, a picnic.

The Club have had guest speakers at their monthly meetings and even visits from their local council to tell them about recycling and information about the wonderful Botanical Gardens.

All these activities assist in the Stroke Recovery members meeting different people and making new friends.

The Club has many carers who also attend the meetings and outings. This gives the carer a real chance to relax for the day and see that there are people out there that care and are willing to respond to their situation.

Each year for Stroke Awareness Week, the Club has an information stall at Corrimal Court (Woolworths), where they hand out lots of information about Stroke, exercising, how to prevent a Stroke, fatigue after Stroke etc.

If you are interested in attending a meeting at the Wollongong – North Illawarra Stroke Recovery Club, please contact the Association on 1300 650 594 or email info@strokensw.org.au.

The Wollongong – North Illawarra Stroke Recovery Club would like to acknowledge the Dharawal people who are the traditional custodians of the land that they meet on. We pay our respect to Elders both past, present and emerging.
